Harry Blokhuis, project coordinator
As you are an important stakeholder in the area of animal welfare I would like to take this opportunity to invite you on behalf of the Steering Committee and the project’s partners to attend our forthcoming conference
‘Assuring animal welfare: from societal concerns to implementation’.  This second Stakeholder conference will be held at the Federal institute for Risk Assessment in Berlin, Germany on the 3rd and
4th of May 2007.

As you probably know, Welfare Quality® is a European inter-disciplinary research project that addresses numerous issues related to safeguarding animal welfare in the food chain. The project has been co-financed by the EU under the Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Development.
A continuously ongoing dialogue with stakeholders is essential to put our research results into a broad perspective and to focus our work towards
their successful application and implementation. The primary goals of this conference are therefore to facilitate a dialogue about our results with all relevant stakeholders and to identify mutually beneficial activities. It will also provide an excellent opportunity for stakeholders to meet project partners and to gain insights into cutting edge animal welfare research.
