Training and mobility for researchers
The objective of the activity Training and mobility of the Project Welfare Quality® is to increase the European research expertise on animal welfare. This activity is for the benefit of research staff and to industrial actors. It works as a support desk for 'in lab' training through the exchange of people between groups. It will not provide grants to applicants or to host institutions but will help finding such grants from European or national initiatives.
Individual researchers (pre- or post-doc researchers) willing to carryout research on animal welfare and host institutions of the project Welfare quality or the network Measuring and monitoring farm animal welfare (COST action 846) can benefit from this support desk.
Individual researchers will find:
- Help to construct their professional plan
- Information on the expertise existing in the project Welfare quality and the network
"Measuring and monitoring farm animal"
- Information on host institutions that may enable them to realise their professional plan
- Information on possibilities for financial support and on other matters related to working abroad.
Individual researchers who wish to receive support from the Training and mobility desk must follow three steps before submitting their expectations to the Training and mobility desk (Step 4 Contact with Support Desk).
Step 1: Thinking about your professional plan
Step 2: Looking for a host institution
Step 3: Looking for financial support
Once they have found a research position they can consider:
Step 5: Writing your application
Step 6: Obtaining more information on administrative constraints: Formalities for going abroad

Other staff
Although our activity is mainly directed at young researchers, other staff involved in research will find here useful information on the application of methods, which species are under study etc. in the database (see Looking for a host institution).
Thirty seven young researchers have already contacted the Training and mobility desk from which twenty received individual follow–up assistance. Fifteen found a PhD or post doc position thanks to the support from the Training and mobility desk and three engaged in other studies. We helped select candidates for five positions. Both the candidates and the host institutions reported that they greatly appreciated the professional help received from the Training and mobility desk.
Have a look at the statements of researchers and host institutions that benefited of the activity.
